Castlevania Reboot? Not this time, Trevolucard... by SparkusThunderbolt Castlevania Reboot? Not this time, Trevolucard... by SparkusThunderbolt
The only (and big) thing i don't like about Mirror's of Fate alternate line, is that Trevor is now Alucard, and they were two separate characters (at the sime time) in the past...
I mean, they doesn't share the same mother, the same past, i know it's a reboot, but still...I found this a little weird. (pretty weird, to be honest)
They were even allies in the past and appeared in the same game at the same time! (Castlevania III) This just doesn't even make any sense... At least this is a separate/alternate timeline, but still it's pretty messed up i think.

To add into how this is even more odd, there was a potential chance that Alucard was Trevor's father.
You see, Castlevania Legends wast he first one to star a female, Sonia Belmont. Her partner was Alucard, and it hinted at them being closer then just "Out to kick ass".
The end of the game resulted in her having a baby in the ending, the son being Trevor. It was never flat out said that Alucard was the father, but there was enough sublimital hinting. Thus is how the Belmonts became even stronger after that point in time, due to Dracula's blood being introduced into the Belmont line, thanks to Alucard.

..wow that really makes no sense.  Of course it makes less sense considering that Alucard I believe was supposed to be born somewhere in the 1450s (if I'm not mistaken), and yet I believe Castlevania Legends takes place before Alucard was even born...so I don't know what's the deal with some of the games as far as some general timeline goes.

I do have to say though that I really hated this idea Trevor and Alucard could be the same character.  I mean, was that really necessary?  I mean, I loved the idea even though at the time it wasn't 100% certain it would be Alucard of Gabriel in that one Lords of Shadow 2 trailer confronting Alucard at the end.  It was just damn cool, but now that I now that who else he's supposed to be...then it doesn't seem any where near as great.

Yes, I know it is a reboot.  Maybe the whole thing will work out well for younger gamers new or relatively so to the franchise, but it's not going to work for me.  I really want to see Alucard in another Castlevania but not like this.

I agree completely. The original timeline was better.

And what’s with Simon’s beard in the new one? He looks like Cornell from Castlevania 64.

Dammit I really agree with you on the whole messed up timeline. Where is Leon??? And don't tell me you're going to cut Juste out just because his game wasn't that popular ;n; I hope they make up for it by FINALLY giving us a battle of 1999 game >:T

I know, it was just an idea. I'm not really fond of the new timeline and the fact that they cut Leon out of his original time u_u

At least the monster 'Galamoth' in the series can 'explain' why the timeline changes everytime, still that could be a pretty lazy theory lol
And btw, Too bad Juste was cut out just like that, i like his game a lot and the music xD

Yeah it's still confusing tho @o@

Yeah Juste is my favorite Belmont! Well he hasn't been cut out YET but I hope they don't cut him out :T and HoD is a great game! All the Belmonts deserve to stay in the games u_u

Maybe Castlevania could change its points of view depending of someone or something that changes time and story with his own will, like it was with Aeon or Saint Germain, or Galamoth, but in a major role, plus the interminable cycle against Dracula or his Dark forces...
Maybe that can 'fix' the damage that Konami already did to his 'beloved' series'.
Anyways maybe it was just better if the new castlevania were remakes of the old ones with more story and character depth, but not a new thing where the old characters dissapear..

...sort of funny, I had a sort of similar idea of a Castlevnia game of this although it was more something hinting this than actually saying or making different sort of "parallel"/alternate universes.  It would also have tried to bridge the gap between what happened to the Belmont clan that pretty much stopped showing up somewhere in the 19th century (I understand Order of Eclesia tried to do this, but I found the game a bit wishy washy on that).

It would also perhaps as a optional sort of side quest make the main character of the story confront Gabriel Belmont as depicted in Lords of Shadow 2 just for kicks.

Yeah, I think perhaps they should just do a reboot or remake of perhaps (and yes I do mean it) Simon's Quest or perhaps what would be far better Castlevania 3 and go from there.  Have something with the Alucard we know.  And don't make it a 2d game.

It would be cool to see remakes from the old games, we only have the ones from the first one, and the Dracula X games, but still we haven't got any Castlevania II or III remake...(or IV)

I thought IV was supposed to be a sort of remake of the first (yes I understand that there is Castlevania Chronicles as well).  I never really understood the point of that game, not that it didn't kick all sorts of ass.

I've also started recently to think that perhaps they should sort of change the whole idea of Castlevania (despite its name) into something more about dealing with vampires, vampire hunting, and that sort of thing.  You know, your sort of standard 18th to 19th century gothic literature with werewolves, vampires, etc. so as to mix things up.  Killing Dracula all the times gets old eventually.

Maybe it was only a port from the NES to Snes with different things, just like Rondo of Blood and Dracula X were alike.

Yeah, you're right, but with that they can also still use the 99' War, where Julius Belmont is involved, and we haven't seen/playing that yet.

It would have been more of a homage to the other Castlevanias, and it might also be a bit like BioShock Infinite at least towards the end of the game with the whole thing of different worlds.  It also was meant to play into the theme of the whole eternal battle between the Belmonts and Dracula.

Yeah, the whole thing has become a boring, repetitive cycle and it does need something to make it different from the previous games...
Maybe... Hopefully... xD
They should keep their fans in mind too when they're developing a new game! It can't always be business business get with the times. But yeah, I get why Konami did certain things but I still don't get why they did other things like why couldn't Gabriel and Leon be brothers? That would totally work xD

Yeah, they probably should have gone with that although in many ways I never liked the whole idea behind Lament of Innocence.  I mean, how does somebody 4 centuries earlier become Vlad III Dracula?  That never sank well for me, but I could see Leon and Gabriel being brothers.  That could have worked a little better.

To be honest, I thought that the new version of the series was a nice change of pace. Lately, all we had been getting was re-hashes of 'Symphony of the Night'. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the Castlevania games (Including Simon's Quest), but we needed a new IP for the series, as it was quickly dying out for many people, due to being too repetitive.

That's why, when 'Lords of Shadow' was announced, I had mixed feelings about it at first. It wasn't until I picked up the game and played it, that I knew it was a step in the right direction. And the fact that they were making sure to avoid messing with the original timeline of the games, to keep from angering the fans, was also quite kind of the creators of the re-boot. It's for this reason, that I kept myself with an open mind for the rest of the 'Lords of Shadow' saga. Yes, it may seem a little odd to know how Alucard came to be this time around. But, at the same time, this is not the old storyline, and we should not criticize the creators for trying to find a new way to keep the story both interesting and smoothly flowing.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is, "As one Castlevania fan to another. Take it as a separate ride, and simply enjoy it for what it is." It's not as if they're trying to ruin the old story, for they made it clear that this is a re-boot, and in no way impacting the original story we all know and love.

...Now...If only we could get the Julius chapter to the 'Rondo of Blood'/'Aria of Sorrow' saga...I'm going crazy having that empty gap there.

Konami have still a lot to explain...
And to create! I don't really hate the alternate timelines, i think, if i get the possibility to play it, maybe i'll like it a lot..
But well, about this edited photo, it was a joke to a friend that is about to buy the game, and he played SotN a lot, and i'm actually playing Dracula's Curse, so the idea where Alucard is the same as Trevor was a little awkward for both at the time, and that's the reason of this. :p

Okay. I got'cha! When I read your description and such, it came off more like a massive complaint than a joke. So, sorry if I seemed preachy there.

And, yes, they do have a lot to create. As I said, we need Julius' ark of the story. He's proven to be a badass in both the 'of sorrow' games, and in Casltevania HD. So, I can only imagine what his ark would be like.

Judgement also lacks Richter...
And i think the new Casltevania games are good too :)
But well, if we get another 'Judgement' game-like, i would like to see the Two Trevors or Two Alucards even if they're from an alternate time-line..

Yes, just yesterday i completed that game...
And i know there are a lot of non-canon games removed, but this new one, i don't know...i was just starting Castlevania III and now i found this, two characters being the same, even if in an alternate time-line, it's weird, maybe i'll just have to play Mirror of Fate to like the new idea..
